I head to Maryland again tomorrow for a few weeks. Luckily I was able to be here the whole weekend. It was pretty warm all weekend and our little pool has been great to cool off in. Friday was the country fair at Jake's School. The boys had a blast, but poor Kristin volunteered to work the corn-hole toss game the whole time. This morning I took Jake to a baseball clinic. He starts fall-ball next weekend. I took Tyler's training wheels off his bike for the first time. He got it immediately and was zipping around the cul-de-sac with no problem. I'll have to put them back on for a few more months just because his little legs can't quite reach the ground even with the seat as low as it is.

Boat race. Jake had the advantage with his slight height advantage and all the hot air he's full of.

McDonalds with Kyle after baseball practice.

Fun Labor Day weekend. I had off Friday so Ty and I grabbed a cake-pop and milk before pre-school. Friday we went to Red Robin for my birthday dinner. Saturday I took the boys to Home Depot. Ty made an airplane and Jake made a bug catcher... look out bugs! Saturday afternoon the boys went to a little neighbor friend's birthday/pool party. Sunday I took Jake to the track for a few hours to ride. Sunday night we had neighbor friends over for a bbq. Today we relaxed around the house in the morning, then I took the boys to Pump-it-up to burn up a little energy. It wore Tyler out and Jake didn't put up much of a fight going to bed.

 Happy 42

 Tyler just pushed Jake in!

Guess who was first in line to get a piece of cake!
(also, Kristin made the cake)

Jake jumped in from the ledge.
Tyler kept trying but never quite made it all the way.
"A" for effort thought!

It's nice to be back home from my work trip, or as Kristin calls it "My Vacation".  Summer is officially over and Jake is officially a first grader.  He likes his new teacher and one of his best friends Kyle is in his class. Tyler moves up to the 4 year olds class at pre-school tomorrow.

Last summer swim!

Fresh haircuts for school.

Kristin invited some neighbor friends over last night for a little surprise birthday party for me.

Jake and Tyler are doing great with swim lessons. The instructors are very impressed with their natural ability and fearlessness. The boy's favorite part of swim lessons is the end when the instructors throw them in the air. The instructors like it too because you can never throw the VanSant boys to high or to far. They love it.
Grandma Gretchen is here for a couple weeks and the boys love having her here. The boys and I went camping in the back yard Thursday night which was Tyler's first time in the tent overnight. He did great but I remember why I don't sleep with Tyler, he spins like a clock all through the night. Friday night we went to Sea World and stayed to watch the fireworks. This morning we went to Home Depot to build pencil boxes for school which starts in only a couple weeks. The summer went by so fast.

I'm off to Maryland for 3 weeks for work. Kristin calls it "My Vacation".
