Mommy is back home from her business trip and we are happy to have her back. The boys are getting excited for Halloween. Jake had another race this weekend and Tyler and Kristin had a date day. Today we went to the pumpkin station.
The boys school pictures

Setting out to "Boo" some people. Jake was the runner, Ty was the doorman for Jake, and I was the get awaydriver.

Date Day with Mommy. Tyler wanted to eat at the "bird place (Red Robin) that's far away to get Mac and Cheese"
And ride the choo-choo!

Jake's name was drawn for a pre-race door prize.
Jake got the hole shot in the open class, even against four 65cc bikes in the same race. He got passed by an older kid and really wanted to pass him back so he decided to try and jump a big double that pretty much only some of the 65cc and bigger bikes jump. He came up a little short and got bounced off the bike. He was ok and wanted to get back in the race before the EMT could check him out.
They changed the track around. Jake really liked this step-up jump.
He got first in his class to keep the points lead and 2nd in the open 50 class.

Kristin is off to Chicago on a business trip for a few days. Finally enjoying some more fall like weather here. Jake had a baseball game today. It's amazing how much he's improved in a year. Last year he had a lot of trouble hitting off the pitching machine and this year he barely ever misses.
I had lunch with the boys at school last week. They were pretty happy to get McDonalds instead of school lunch food.
The boys got Boo'ed

After a little rain on Friday and with a little overcast skies, Saturday was a perfect day at the track to practice.

I've put some work in on Jake's bike; new exhaust, carb jetting, new tires and a new high performance racing clutch. He's going to move up in class next year and needs the upgrades to match the other competitors' bikes. I was a little concerned if he could handle the bike, but he didn't have any problems at all. He rockets around the track and his starts and cornering are really improving.

Tyler is still just happy motoring around the track, which I'm totally happy with, considering at 5 years old I was just learning to ride a pedal bike. All the other kids around his age are constantly crashing and their Dad's are running all over the track picking them up. Tyler is slow but he never crashes. Slow and steady may very well win the race.

  Post ride ritual... Ice cream

Put in a little time at the skate park today.

Had a Dad fail moment this week. Kristin woke up sick Thursday, so I told the boys to get dressed while I fixed their breakfast (cold cereal, as opposed to her waffles and bacon). We hurried out the door and Maria was kind enough to take them to school so I wouldn't be late to work. Below is the text and picture she sent us shortly after I dropped them off at her house. Thanks again Maria! It takes a village!

Nothing like being woke up by a drum solo!

Jake started a new race series. He made it to the top of the podium to start the 4 race series as the points leader in his class.

We got some much needed rain today so we all went to the movies to see "Hotel Transylvania 2".
