The boys have been bugging me to take them fishing. So, we went Saturday morning to Poway lake and it was about as much fun as I was expecting it to be. Little boys get bored pretty quick when they are not catching anything. We camped Saturday night with friends at Pala racetrack. The boys raced Sunday. Tyler did a little better but racing just is not in his blood. Jake did well and they both had fun camping and hanging out with their buddies.

Another fun summer weekend. Boys camped outside in the back-yard Friday night. Saturday Jake had a race at Pala and Tyler came along to ride. It was a small race so Jake decimated his competition in the beginner 65 class. He even hit this huge double a couple times. Saturday, we took Dungey to meet some friends at the beach. Afterward we came back to our place for more swimming and BBQ.

We got a 7-year-old in the house! Hard to believe our little preemie Tyler is 7 years old already. He had an awesome birthday. Friday, we did our customary birthday dinner at Red Robin, followed by having some neighborhood friends over for cake, ice cream and presents. I cleaned Tyler's dirt bike up with new plastic's and number stickers. It's so nice Jake wants it back. Tyler also got new riding gear, helmet and a ton of iTunes gift cards. Saturday morning, we went to the beach. Later we took some of Tyler's friends to Chuck-E-Cheese then back to our house for more swimming, and more cake and ice-cream! Sunday Jake had a race outside of LA and Tyler came along to ride. It was a hot one! Jake did pretty well, he had a bad start on one moto but worked his way up to a respectable finish with a lot of passes, but then in another moto he slid out after they watered the track and came up covered in mud. He still did well enough in the other class to get 5th and get a t-shirt, so he was happy with that. Tyler is not a big fan of riding in hot weather, but he looked great in his new gear and on his new bike.

Wow, what a weekend! I'm having trouble remembering all we did. Friday night neighbors came over for backyard smore's. On Saturday Jake's racing buddy Mason and his family came over for a BBQ and Mason and the boys had a sleep over. Sunday the boys and Mason met more riding buddies, Nolan and Jarrett, at our local track to do some riding. Then Nolan and Jarrett came back to our house to cool off in the pool. After that we had dinner at a neighbor's and the boys went swimming again at their house. Monday, I took off work and we rode our bikes into town to get pizza, then the boys had their dentist visit. They did really good at the dentist so we stopped in at Chuck-E-Cheese right next door to the dentist for a little bit, followed by meeting Mommy for sushi. We started off the 4th with our neighborhood bike and dog parade. Then we went swimming with Tyler's teacher from last year, Mrs. Pon, at her brother's pool. Dogs are allowed in the pool so Dungey got to go swimming too. That evening we bounced between two more neighborhood pool parties and then some neighborhood street fireworks and sparklers. I'm tired just writing about all of it! We got some pretty water logged kids from all the swimming they have been doing, but they are ready for more. Great start to summer!
Jake found a baby praying mantis in our back yard. PawPaw George gave Jake praying mantis eggs to bring home a couple years ago. I don't know if these are from those eggs but, this is the first praying mantis I've seen in San Diego.

Dungey is not a big fan of a bath

Of course, Tyler schmoozes up to the lady that runs the track's snack bar's little girl!
